The introduction of the 1% Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) on transactions above GHS 100 posed a challenge for the GRA in ensuring smooth implementation, particularly in a rapidly growing digital economy with a significant informal sector.
We educated, informed, and engaged the public on the role and benefits of E-Levy, encouraging everyone, particularly the informal sector, to view it as their contribution to national development through taxes.
We executed two parallel campaigns designed to:
1. Sensitise the public to understand the E-Levy’s purpose and importance to national development.
2. Emphasise its benefits while addressing misconceptions.
Activities Included:
Increased public awareness of revenue compliance as an integral part of daily transactions.
Strengthened public understanding of how taxes contribute to visible national development.
Improved motivation among Ghanaians to support the government by paying taxes.
Enhanced stakeholder relationships through effective education and engagement efforts.
